What are Legal Clinics?

The legal clinics are theoretical-practical training spaces founded on the connection between social and legal realities. There is also a focus placed on service to the community by working on real cases in which there is an underlying social problem or public interest.

The origin of legal clinics dates back to the article published in 1933 entitled "Why Not a Clinical Lawyer-School?" and written by Jerome Frank, a prominent representative of North American legal realism.

In Anglo-Saxon, Ibero-American and Asian universities, legal clinics focus on the participation of students in legal proceedings, even granting them certain legal standing before the administration of justice. Meanwhile, legal clinics in Spanish universities may only provide legal guidance.
